I am Heather O'Neill, owner and trainer for Pet Solutions Unlimited (PSU). I have lived in Camarillo my entire life. I started my business in 2003 as a way to give me flexibility in scheduling while raising my daughter who was 14 at the time. I am also going to use the knowledge I gain owning my own business to help me in my goal of opening an exotic animal facility in the future. My experience with animals started with a job at Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group in Ventura. I used this as a stepping stone to help get my acceptance in to the Exotic Animal Training and Management program (EATM) at Moorpark College. During the 21-month program, I earned three separate certificates in the areas of care and handling, education and animal training and management. After graduation, I started working at Totally Natural Training to gain more experience and knowledge in the canine services. I then decided to open my own training business to use the techniques and methods I had learned at EATM. I knew I needed to continue my education so I earned my certification for pet dog trainer from CCPDT and became a member of APDT. My experience and education is unique in canine training. Many trainers learn by working for a trainer or seminars. I learned through a program specifically designed to train me techniques through hands-on experience with a diverse range of species. I worked with macaws, a Harris's hawk, spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, an alpaca, a camel, cougars, a binturong, an arctic fox, a serval, and a bengal tiger through the Exotic Animal Training Program at Moorpark College. My goal is to provide pet owners with quality care and training for their pets with a personal touch, no matter the species. |
